Making a Difference Through Action

For 15 years, my work has focused on education, healthcare, and hands-on community support — delivered directly, not through a large institution.

Education and Learning

I helped build a school in Tanzania for Maasai children and the Richard & Sandy Jackson Library, a solar-powered facility with 7,000 English books and a 25-unit computer lab. Books have also been shipped to schools in need of materials.

Medical equipment and supplies have reached communities in Tanzania, Mali, and Peru, providing essential resources where healthcare access is limited.

Current Work

My life journey and life’s aim is to help others. Using my nonprofit, Mali Nieta Foundation,  I have been supporting schools and clinics in Tanzania and sending books and medical supplies to Bamako, Mali and Lima, Peru. Recently a new university, Timbuktu American University, was inaugurated by the government and my friend Garba Konate, an entrepreneur who received his education at the University of Houston. I met him in 2005 at Houston Methodist where he was translating his father’s French language for me while I was attending to his father’s medical needs.  Garba is strongly involved in the school and its destiny. This English immersion University uses books for reading, education skills, and basic learning as well as computers to promote the learning of the students.

In addition I have been supporting a hospital named Hopital Mere et Enfants  that cares for women and children of middle and lower socioeconomic circumstances. The hospital has run out of supplies and needs furniture and many surgical items. I want to send a container full of necessary supplies to Bamako, Mali to replenish their stores. There is also a need for incubators, surgical and delivery tables, and surgical supplies.

My goal is to raise $25,000 to fund these purchases. Thank you for your tax deductible donation that I will use to achieve these goals.
